Where It All Began…
HKS was founded in 1983 by my father and my late grandfather, with a simple but powerful ambition, to create beautifully designed kitchens backed by honest service and exceptional attention to detail. Our first showroom opened in Hastings as Hastings Kitchen Studio, specialising in kitchens manufactured in France. From the very beginning, quality and care were at the heart of everything they did.
Growing up around the business, I saw first hand the pride they took in their work and the importance they placed on looking after every customer properly. Those early years were built on hard work, passion and long days spent perfecting designs, installing kitchens and building lasting relationships with clients. It was never about quick wins, it was about doing things properly.
Growing Through Reputation & Trust
As word spread and recommendations grew, the business naturally evolved. New showrooms followed in Heathfield, Eastbourne and Haywards Heath, allowing us to support more homeowners across the region. Each expansion was carefully considered, ensuring we never lost the personal service that had become so important to our reputation.
Over the years, HKS grew into a leading specialist in fitted kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms across the South East. This growth did not come from aggressive sales tactics, but from trust, consistency and delivering on our promises. Many of our customers came to us through friends, family and neighbours who had already experienced the HKS approach.
A Family Business At Its Core
Today, HKS remains very much a family business. I am proud to be leading the company into its next chapter, with my wife Anna also working within the business and my father still very much involved alongside the wider team. That continuity matters to us, because it keeps our values firmly grounded.
Many of our team members have been with us for years, some for decades. They share the same passion for creating beautiful spaces and the same belief in treating customers with respect and care.
