Getting to Know Hannah…

1. What first led you into the world of interior design?

I discovered my interest in interiors while studying Interior Architecture at university. After many years working as a flight attendant, I felt it was time to return to something creative, so I moved back into design and have not looked back.

2. How would you describe your design style?

I am drawn to muted tones, natural textures and the simplicity of Nordic design. These elements create calm spaces that feel balanced and timeless, which is something many of our clients appreciate.

3. What do you enjoy most about working with clients?

I really value helping people understand how colours, textures and layouts can shape the feel of their home. Supporting clients as they make confident decisions is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

4. What inspires your creativity?

I find inspiration through interior design pages and imagery from our suppliers. These sources help spark ideas and show how different materials can be combined to create thoughtful, practical rooms.

5. How do you begin the design process when meeting someone new?

I always start with a genuine conversation. Understanding how someone lives, what they like and what matters most to them helps me shape a design that feels personal. This focus on connection is a key part of the HKS design process and something I believe makes a real difference.

6. How do you balance personal style with everyday practicality?

I ask clients what they want their space to achieve. Some prioritise storage while others care most about appearance. By understanding their priorities, I can guide them towards a design that works day to day while still reflecting their taste.

7. Which materials or trends are you enjoying working with at the moment?

I am really liking warm tones, neutral palettes and textured worktops. I also have a soft spot for modern and traditional shaker kitchens, which remain a favourite with many HKS clients because they feel both familiar and contemporary.

8. What do you enjoy doing outside of design?

I have been a bridal make up artist for more than ten years. I enjoy working closely with people and helping them feel their best. It gives me another creative outlet and has strengthened the personal approach I bring to design appointments.

9. Is there a recent project you feel especially proud of?

Yes, I recently designed a Masterclass kitchen with a matt black handless layout and Dekton worktops. It suited the client perfectly and was a great example of how a clear brief can lead to a strong, cohesive result.
